Shipbuilding and Steel Construction Services

Steel construction, newbuilding ship steel fabrication, piping, outfitting works and site project management on behalf of the client.

Steel Construction Fabrication

With our experience in the shipbuilding and shipyard sector, we carry out the fabrication and assembly of steel structures of every scale in line with the drawings and the work schedule.

Our scope:

  1. Pre-fabrication of plates and profiles (part preparation, weld edge preparation, dimensional joining)
  2. Panel and section fabrication
  3. Block fabrication and joining of blocks
  4. Platforms, deck structures and load-bearing steel constructions
  5. Reinforcement and modification steel works on existing structures

Quality and control:

We apply dimensional and weld quality controls at every stage of fabrication and, where required, verify them by non-destructive testing.

Newbuilding Ship Steel Fabrication

We carry out the hull steel works of newbuilding ships, from the pre-fabrication of materials received already cut to slipway (erection) assembly, directly on the shipyard site and in line with the shipyard's work schedule.

Our fabrication stages:

  1. Pre-fabrication: joining cut plates and profiles to prepare modules
  2. Panel fabrication: deck, double bottom, bulkhead and shell panels
  3. Block fabrication: joining panels with structural members to form blocks
  4. Pre-erection and slipway (erection) assembly: joining blocks to form the ship's hull
  5. Integral tanks and shell structures, with watertightness checks

Our experience:

We have taken part in the steel fabrication of vessels of different types and scales, including live fish carriers, a freezer trawler, tugboats, floating docks, military projects and powership conversions.

Pipe Fabrication and Installation

We carry out the fabrication and installation of ship piping systems, from preparing pipes as spools (pre-fabrication) to installing them on board and testing them.

Our scope:

  1. Pipe and spool pre-fabrication (cutting, bending, weld edge preparation, welding, tagging and numbering)
  2. Processing of carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel pipes
  3. Installation of flanges, elbows and fittings
  4. Fabrication and installation of pipe hangers and supports
  5. Pipe installation at block stage and on board
  6. Pressure and tightness tests

Why spool pre-fabrication?

Preparing pipes in advance shortens installation time on board and reduces on-site labour, helping the work stay in line with the shipyard's work schedule.

Quality and control:

We check welded joints visually and, where required, by non-destructive testing, and completed systems by pressure and tightness tests.

Outfitting Works

We carry out the outfitting steel works needed for equipment to take its place on board, from pre-outfitting at block stage to final installation on the ship.

Our scope:

  1. Equipment and machinery foundations
  2. Ladders, handrails, platforms and walkway structures
  3. Support and bracket structures for pipes, cable trays and ventilation ducts
  4. Installation of deck and engine room outfitting elements
  5. Pre-outfitting at block stage (on-block outfitting)

We fabricate outfitting steelwork with dimensional precision suited to the equipment layout on board and install it in place.

Site Project Management

In shipbuilding projects we act as the site team on behalf of our client, following every stage of the project at the shipyard on site and making sure it progresses in line with the planned scope, schedule and budget.

Our scope:

  1. On-site follow-up at the shipyard of all fabrication stages, including cutting, block fabrication, pre-erection and slipway (erection) assembly
  2. Schedule tracking and early identification of delay risks
  3. Budget and cost control; assessment of additional work and change requests on behalf of the client
  4. Coordination with the shipyard, subcontractors, design office and classification society on behalf of the client
  5. On-site checking of fabrication against drawings, specifications and class requirements
  6. Follow-up of material and equipment deliveries
  7. Regular progress reporting
  8. On-site supervision of occupational health and safety practices

Our aim is to keep our client's project progressing in line with the planned quality, time and budget targets, and to keep the client informed of developments on site in a timely manner.
